A man was walking up a mountain road with a heavy bundle on his back. He perspired and panted and he struggled to get to the top of the incline. The simple peasant was taken aback when a man driving a wagon called out to him “Jump in the back and I will get you to the next town.” The nearly exhausted porter accepted and used his waning strength to climb on board. The driver was surprised that the panting and some groaning did not stop even after 10 minutes had elapsed. When he turned to talk to his passenger he was taken aback. “Why are you still carrying the bag?” he inquired with a puzzled look on his face, “you don’t have to anymore. If you throw your load on the wagon’s floor you and your merchandise will arrive safely at your destination and you will certainly be a lot less tired.”

Some people are very much like the poor peasant. They insist on struggling, cheating and toiling in pursuit of financial support. David haMelekh said in Tehillim 55, 23,  הַשְׁלֵךְ עַל יְהֹוָה יְהָבְךָ וְהוּא יְכַלְכְּלֶךָ לֹא יִתֵּן לְעוֹלָם מוֹט לַצַּדִּי – Throw your load upon Hashem and he will sustain you! Our wise king meant to say that a person can trust that Hashem will provide his needs so long as a person trusts wholeheartedly that He will. If you upload faith and trust Hashem downloads all that you need in proportion to your input.

We all see day to day the miracle of His kindness in the ways that our sustenance is given to us. What we fail to understand is the boomerang effect that our trust in Hashem creates. Limit His share and He limits His input Give Him all the responsibility and He will take care of all your needs.

ONE MORE SECOND

A THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

What good is it if the eye can see, but the creation known as man is without the power of movement and is not able to move objects?
